Dharamsala Pet Tales, Vidya Niwas..Bon-Bon Story
63Waking up without Mama's MOO !
From a Baby Bull's Eyes..!
While on a Dalai Lama tour, with the scent of pine around us, on a hilltop with friends who, in their love for animals, have inspired us for scripting this story about our baby bull..Bon Bon ! Noah still sends us the regular parcel for him, while our other friends always enquire about him. Compassion is perhaps the most healing emotion of a human heart..This story is in his memory, who will always live in our hearts !
" As usual, I dream't about milk and the protective love of my mother, who often chose the best lush of green grass for me, so that I could become strong and mighty like other bulls. But, to my shock I could not get the familiar sound of the Shepherd or the more comforting MOOs of my herd..I was truely lost in the deep forest and my herd had gone away..
I was bitter, hurt and scared. Somehow I stumbled down to a strange village. I had no idea who I was, what was my name and destiny, moreso when none of the cows n bulls I met were friendly. A big stray dog became my friend and mentor and my sleeping mate, in a makeshift shelter, near the old Shiva temple in Kandi, in Dharamsala.
Then one day when the skies were pouring cats n dogs, wet , hungry and almost too weak to stand, I collapsed near a gate of a home. I remember soft whispers n gentle voices..a fat thick bread coated with brown jaggery and black sesame seeds was offered to me. I ate hungrily and it gave me energy to stand up. Soon this home became my stand in shelter, but like I said there was bitterness and I still waited to hear my mother's MOO !
Then one day, nearly after six months of roaming the fields and streets my mistress told me, one big secret.. How she had moved on, after her marriage from the plains of Lucknow to the mountains of Dharamsala. It was hard for her, she was born in the lap of the Ganges in Haridwar, which in its inheritance taught her the flow of compassion and how to move with time !
Today, Iam snug in my new home..Vidya Niwas in Dharamsala, in the loving care of my new parents and my six dogs to play with me..!!..Bon-Bon the Baby Bull, Vidya Niwas, Dharamsala.
